FLOWER SHOW July 20-21

 Your Invitation to Attend!
The members of the Cadillac Garden Club will present a Small Standard Flower Show at the 5th/3rd Bank, 123 S. Mitchell Street. Viewing times will be on July 20 from Noon until 6 pm, and July 21 from 9 am to Noon.

This show will follow the rules for flower shows as established by the National Garden Clubs, Inc. This means there will be a design section and a horticulture section judged by NGC, Inc. accredited flower show judges. You may or may not agree with their choices, but it is certainly fun to see the unique designs the exhibitors show.

The horticulture section is of education benefit to both new and experienced gardeners in this area. It displays what plants grow here, and many plants and cultivars many gardeners might be not know.

The flower designs are usually not what someone might envision in their home, but are designed to a theme. As the club's biennial flower show will be for the first time in a bank, this year's themes are money oriented. Class one is "One For the Money," an all green arrangement (green flowers as well as the green foliage). "Save For a Rainy Day," which will be a table arrangement using an umbrella. Class three's "Pennies for Piggys," is a Designer's Choice which mean anything the designer wants to do can be done. The last class is a floor design -- literally placed on the floor -- and can be up to four feet in height.

Many beautiful flower arrangements were shown at the 81st Annual Convention of Michigan Garden Clubs, Inc. This is one from Cadillac Garden Club member June Peterson. This design was in the main lobby of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. Many guests at the hotel stopped to look and appreciate the designs.
